The Daffodil Tree

<< Back to the main Stories/poems page

Looking out the window, what's to see?
The daffodils growing around our tree
Look closer still make sure to notice
The white and purple courageous Crocus

Full of life they give us cheer
And let us know that Spring is here

So stay awhile don't rush away
You help to brighten up our day
We're tired of snow of rain and sleet
The squelchy grass beneath our feet

Bring on the sun the balmy breeze
New life buds upon the trees
Bring out the children, bikes and balls
Bring out the prams with dressed up doll

Let them play and shout and run
Excited in the midday sun
Let them wonder let them roam,
When tired and hungry they'll come home

Then sit them on your windowsills
And welcome this year’s daffodils
