5 Generations

<< Back to Main Local Interest page

There are probably not too many old pictures around these days showing five generations of the one family.

Lucan Family

In the photograph, in order of age, are:
1. Mrs. McCormack (seated)

2. Her son, Patrick McCormack (centre back)

3. His daughter, Katie O’Neill (standing right) who drowned in the Liffey shortly after her son had drowned. It is thought she went looking for him.

4. Her daughter, Mary Graham (standing left) , many people will remember as Mrs. Graham from The Square!

5. Mary's daughter, Kathleen Collins, is the child in the front. Kathleen married Jack Collins, and has two daughters Carol and Elizabeth.

We send very best wishes to Kathleen who is resident in Griffeen Nursing Home.

Indeed, there are many members of this family still in the Lucan area, all married into different families. It would take a very long time to count all the relations.

A newcomer to Lucan once told me that the best piece of advice they'd ever received was to 'just assume that everybody is related to everybody else before you say anything' – sound advice!!!

Thank You to Pauline Condron (nee McCormack - another family member) for the photo – a real gem!
