Thursday 13th August saw Lucanians bid a fond 'ciao' to Mario Labbrozzi. Mario has been in charge of security at Lucan House – the Italian Ambassador's residence – for close on twenty years.
At a function in Kenny's, representatives from the Gardai and several community groups, offered words of appreciation to the popular Italian, who many believe to be more Irish than the Irish themselves.
Our photo shows Peter Brady and John Sheerin presenting Mario with a painting by local artist Teresa O'Neill.
Teresa's painting captured the streetscape along by the Italian Embassy
No doubt, Mario will be missed around the village, but for now he's not going too far – only to Clonsilla. We wish him and his wife Rita and sons every happiness in their new home, and hope they'll be frequent visitors to Lucan.
