Lucan – c.1900
Another gem of a picture this week!
The scene is Lucan Village, looking up towards Giltraps (La Banca), with Griffeen View (Giltraps, later Carroll’s Butchers) on the right. To the left is the wall of the present Village Green – back then, it was a field on which horses grazed! The glass conservatory which housed beautiful geraniums during the mid 1900s, wasn’t even in place; nor does there seem to be garden railings in front of Vesey Terrace.
